Consider the Source

An interesting point that 'we' don't consider when it comes to‪ mental health‬ which is the genetics involved. Essentially, the genome is always adapting. Because everyone thinks, reacts and lives differently, 'we' experience the development of genetic variations. I say, experience because these genetic switches result in different 'symptoms' / health conditions, depending on the individual. This is the reason ALL health dis-eases and

dis-orders range from mild to severe. In fact, the words dis-ease & dis-order say it all: lack of ease & lack of order...

That said, neurological / mental health is of the utmost importance & not something to be shamed or dismissed for the simple fact that our thoughts, reactions & choices affect the quality of our health; therefore, rethinking mental disparity promises to enhance the outcome. Having worked with schizophrenia‬, autism‬, depression‬, eating disorders‬, ‎addiction recovery, ‎anxiety‬, ADHD‬, ‎PTSD‬, ‎panic disorders‬ there is little difference, if any, when it comes to the genetics. Quite frankly, every child I have been honored to support has at least one parent who has a history of mental / emotional imbalance, including myself. However, for as much as this sounds like we're all statistics, I disagree.

The lack of internal order leads to an overall misuse of nutrients which becomes an external expression. Due to our incessant need to understand, we have created classifications & labels which provide no benefit other than to categorize / box millions of people for the sake of protocol & 'safety.' Interestingly enough, I've met and witnessed some of the most loving, inventive and inspired people ever! Furthermore, I believe this is because their dis-order, if you will, opens them up which when viewed through ego becomes frightening. In turn, society puts the dis-ordered in their place perpetuating stigma and even more problems. On the other hand, when approached naturally, mental dis-orders are extraordinarily easy to address. Without question, being born sensitive to the world around or with an ability to understand things differently isn't a problem ... it's the way others react to it that becomes the problem. As the child grows, parents, teachers and caregivers begin to observe the onset of differences; however, the task is to stop trying to fit 'them' into what 'we' believe is the norm and make it easier for them to live into their fullest potential. Yes, there are things that 'we' see i.e. ‪‎stimming‬ an inability to focus or sit still, running, aggression, ‪#selfharm‬ anti-social behavior etc Consider these are not only due to chemical imbalances (they are); yet, which came first? Chemical imbalances or the behaviors. You see, thought affects our genetics too and if we're born a certain way and nature is designed to preserve itself, maybe, just maybe, the behaviors are an internal reaction due to the way the world is reacting to the individual.
